Back in Boston, I was heavily addicted to my mp3 player. I never went anywhere without my FL100, or my Koss earphones. After I got to Calgary, I stopped using it, mainly because my rechargable batteries disappeared in the move, as did my player for a while. Well, two weeks ago, I refound all the necessary components, and I've had the player surgically reattached to my body.
The result is nice. Recently I have taken up the habit at nighttime of always walking up the hill to the hospital backwards, for a better view into the sky. These days, Orion is always high at around the time I usually head up to school, between 10 p.m. and midnight. That is great on its own, but it's better with a bit of Leonard to accompany it:

and why go to medschool between 10pm and midnight? isn't that the time when medics hit the pub?
Aargh. I want to listen to the songs but you didn't put titles. Shit, now I have to google them. Can't you make life easier for me?
I'm have only half my Koss due to a dead earplug. Also, my iPod is still dead. That is a bummer.
Ah, now I see. "Hallelujah" by LC. So I have 5 copies of that by LC, Allison Crowe, Jeff Buckley, k.d. lang, and Rufus Wainwright (the best known I guess being on the Shrek soundtrack). I actually like all of them and you have converted me to a LC fan. His version is the most electronic which I actually don't like as much. I also don't like the background singers, still, the lyrics are fantastic and his voice is very satisfying.

I'm approaching the middle of my 5th year in the midwest. I am still awe struck when I walk outside at night and am blinded by the stars in the sky. At home we have so much light polution you can barely see the stars. Definately a wonderous creation that shouldn't be painted over.

I love medschools at night. The atmosphere is best then. Ever seen 'Flatliners'? Also, I have no net connection at home, so coming in to school is my only way to get a blogging fix.
Bil: Gotta make you sing for your supper, you know? I have two LC versions; the one I usually listen to is off of one of his live albums. I like the end of his version, and yeah, I dislike the backup singing too. I think that JJ had that Wainwright version; in any case, it was some guy I'd never heard of before. Email me your mailing address, and I'll send you a 'mix tape' of Nick. I'll mail his record company a quarter.
am: If I may recommend a trip to Mongolia, it is worth it, for the stars. To see the milky way painted onto the heavens, like a big white stripe, is incredible. When I see the milky way clearly, I feel like I'm living in ancient history, somehow.

I want to see the Northern Lights again. I bet up North you can see them more often than down here.
You know, I expected to see the aurora borealis all the time up here, but have been disappointed so far. I guess that the magnetic pole is pretty close to Hudson's Bay, so we're about as far away from it here as down in Wisconsin. We could see them in Ottawa, once in a while...
